Sulwe. Sulwe had me almost crying in the middle of my five o'clock shift. Lupita has really created something with exploring the topic of colorism in childrens book. Sulwe is about a little girl who just wants to be lighter, after seeing how the world treats her and going on a magic journal to really learn "the darker the berry the sweeter the juice". Lupita puts into words what younger, darker skin girls feel in this world. Showing that how you see yourself is the most important gift you can be given.
