Night Sky with Exit Wounds (Paperback)
'I don't know how to love a man gently' Vuong confesses in this debut collection that will, both, steal your breath and shatter your heart. Wedding his unique, stunningly gorgeous mastery of poetic craft with narratives of his family, trauma related to the Vietnam War, queer sexuality, and a yearning for any form of intimacy, the young poet has captured the attention of a generation with this grounbreaking debut. From an 'Ode to Masturbation' to poems written in the voices of both his parents, Vuong has demonstrated that, in order for a book of poetry to succeed, the author must strive to capture the human condition's sheer range. A book whose lines play repeatedly in my head, 'Night Sky...' will not disappoint.

A haunting debut that is simultaneously dreamlike and visceral, vulnerable and redemptive, and risks the painful rewards of emotional honesty.
