Get ready for all the feels in Nic Stone's latest contemporary YA novel, a coming-of-age romance about two Atlanta-area teens who look perfect on paper but are dealing with past trauma. Shelbi, the genius daughter of a best-selling Black romance author and a neurosurgeon, and Andy, the biracial, Ivy League-bound son of a conservative Black politician, go to the same private school but don't know each other. The two seniors share an unconventional meet-cute over Andy's drunk-text to a wrong-number intended for his ex and end up bonding quickly -- but they are both keeping secrets and don't know how to navigate their increasingly intense relationship. Stone, who has been open about her personal journey with mental health, writes these characters with care, and the result is a beautiful if occasionally devastating story of finding love when you least expect it.
