Slipform Poetry Workshop: TANKA

Established in 2016, Slipform is a poetry workshop that uses formal poetic structures to explore gender and sexuality. Slipform allows writers to hone their craft while examining a multitude of fierce poetic voices. In this workshop, participants will write tanka, an ancient, quirky form originating from Japan. With its focus on imagery and emotion, the tanka lends itself to intimate communication. For this workshop, think 17th Century poetry meets Instagram DMs. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to publish their work in the third edition of the Slipform chapbook and to perform at a commemorative reading held at Loyalty Books Petworth. Registration fee $15. All experience levels welcome. Questions? Email Danielle Evennou at or visit
